Shopping Tips

The most important thing for an average shopper is to deal with reputable dealers. No matter how much you know about leather or sofas, you can very easily be misled into buying something you regret later.

You should check out the following facts to find a dealer you can trust.

1. How long have they been in that business?

If a dealer started the business 2 months ago, you never know how long he will stay in the business.

If the store has been around for 50 years in the same business, there must be good reasons for it.

2. Is it a specialty shop?

Specialty shops can focus on the details of their specific product rather than being aware of many products.  Specialty shops should also have more of a selection since that is all they sell.  The easiest example would be a butcher shop verses a grocery store for meat selection.

3. How pushy is the dealer?

The lines: "Only to you", "Only today", "Sale ends today", "If you buy now", "Sale ended last week but....." kind of deals I would definitely stay away from it. Desperation, it is not a good sign.

4. Manufacturer?

There are some retailers who act as if they are the manufacturers. This is usually done not by directly claiming this, they maneuver or mislead people into believing through various ways including the internet. This alone would be good enough to turn me off!
